I Commit this Mandate of Ministry into Your Hands, Son!

1 Timothy 1:18

This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare

Dear Timothy,

My grandfather used to tell me when I was young, “Hold on to what ya got, Son!” He was referring to the equipment I had in the bucket of his front-end loader. His instructions' sole purpose was safety for myself and others nearby. Spiritually speaking, if you let go of what has been entrusted to you, it will cause spiritual injury not only to yourself but to many others around you.

My Son, God has entrusted you with His gospel, the apostolic ministry. I am pouring my knowledge and instruction into you. Remember all that I have taught you. Remember the prophetic prayers and words spoken over your life. Most importantly, remember the Word of God. It will give you the strength and direction needed to endure the battle. When you accepted the call to the ministry you became a soldier of Christ. Welcome to the war! The good news is “if God be for us, who can be against us?” We are more than conquerors, Timothy. Keep on keeping on. Keep up the good fight of faith. You will lose a battle now and then, but you are destined to win the war.

Keep in mind that every hill is not worth dying on. Choose your battles carefully. The elder saints and I believe in you; We are so proud of you! Do not lay down your spiritual weapons or your apostolic ministry for anything or anyone.

Remember these three principles no matter what comes your way in life, or in ministering to others: God is still God, the truth is still the truth, and the Bible is still the Bible. Let those three truths govern your life as a young preacher. One of these days you will not be so young anymore, but through it all, you will find these principles to be your anchor. Those of us who have gone before you count on you to be steadfast in the apostles’ doctrine and earnestly contend for the faith. I have a sign in my office that simply says, “NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP.” I believe there is a gospel principle in that sign, Son.

Go Give ‘em Heaven, Timothy! That’s what both the church and the world need. Never forget your apostolic, Jesus’ name, and Holy Ghost heritage!

“Hold on to what ya got, Son!”
