The Charge of “Some”

1 Tim 1:1-3

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope; 2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. 3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

Dear Timothy,

I am proud of you son, for preaching this gospel! You may realize by now there will always be “some” who push the limits with God and sound doctrinal teaching. There are some in every youth group, church, and even in every ministerial fellowship. Do not let those who ride the fence cause a sense of failure in you. Be aware, and keep doing what you know is right. Keep doing what I have taught you.

As a preacher and as a new pastor, Timothy, your ministry will help others to see doctrinal truth. Still, there will be times you may need to exhort some reminding them not to preach/teach any other doctrine. There is no need for heavy-handedness in this. Simply speak the truth in love.

Though we cannot control the heartfelt beliefs of others we can control what we preach. Consistently preaching truth – sound biblical apostolic doctrine – the pure unadulterated Word of God, will in itself, make the distinction between truth and error.

Remember, it is your duty to protect your congregation from false doctrine.

Also, never forget that we are in the redemption business. So again, always speak the truth in love.

I believe in you!

Pastor

“Some”

1 Corinthians 10:7

7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

1 Corinthians 10:8-10

8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. 9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. 10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

1 Corinthians 15:12

12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

Galatians 1:7

7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

2 Thessalonians 3:11

11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

1 Timothy 1:6

6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

1 Timothy 1:19

19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

1 Timothy 4:1

1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

1 Timothy 5:15

15 For some are already turned aside after Satan.

Hebrews 10:25

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
