Going About Doing Good In 2021

GOING ABOUT DOING GOOD in 2021!

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”

Acts 10:38

Good-bye 2020! Hello and welcome 2021!

Acts 10:38 gives us a one sentence sermon of the ministry of Jesus Christ. While Jesus was on the earth, He went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of hell. God was with Him. God was inside Him. He is God! Jesus is His name. Jesus Christ was, and still is, God in a human body (see Matt. 1:21-25; 2 Cor. 5:19; Col. 2:8-10; 1 Tim. 3:16).

Jesus went about doing good. What good did He do? He went about doing good for others by loving, preaching, teaching, delivering, healing and such. Ultimately, His goodness was extended to us all by His birth, life, death, burial and resurrection (see Tit. 3:4-5). This is gospel. This is the gospel. This is gospel good!

Jesus’ work was more than simple humanitarian in nature. He went about doing good. His going about doing good was soul work. His “going about and doing good” was that He went about ministering to all and healing them from the oppression of hell, the devil, disease and such. Ultimately, He made it possible for us all to be healed from the oppression of sin and hell through Calvary, His burial, His resurrection and the new birth plan (see John 3:3-8; Acts 2:38-39; Eph. 2:7). It is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance (see Rom. 2:4).

“Jesus’ work was more than simple humanitarian in nature.”

The Church is the Body of Christ in the world. We are to go about doing good and healing all that have been oppressed by sin, hell and the devil. When we are spreading His love, hope, healing, Holy Spirit and biblical truth, we are going about doing good like Jesus did (see Matt. 5:13-16; Acts 9:36; Eph. 2:10; 1 Tim.6:17-18). When we preach apostolic biblical salvation through Jesus and His name, we are going about doing good (see Acts 2:38; 4:12).

Doing “good works” in the name of Jesus benefits others, blesses us and brings glory to God. This is “Christian good works”. This is not merely secular human goodness. It stems from biblical teachings.

In no way can we work, merit or earn our way into Heaven. God’s goodness caused Him to come to the earth in flesh, live among us, produce the gospel and purchase a Bride-the Church. His goodness leads us to repentance, baptism in Jesus’ name and the infilling of the Holy Ghost (see Acts 2:38; 2 Cor. 5:17). God’s goodness causes us to live and lead changed lives as we glorify Him daily. As believers, we are to live and go about doing good so that others can see our light and glorify God. In short, good works are not a means of salvation, but a result of being saved.

“When we are spreading His love, hope, healing, Holy Spirit and biblical truth, we are going about doing good like Jesus did.”

Be encouraged child of God in this new year of 2021! Be reminded that you are anointed with the Holy Ghost and power to spread the message of hope, healing and salvation of Jesus Christ. He is with you. He is inside of you.

Get out and about. Go about. Go (see Mark 16:15-20; Luke 4:18; 19:10; Acts 1:8).

Go about doing good and be like Jesus today! Let’s make 2021 an apostolic year of God’s goodness and healing to all.

“3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

Isa. 53:3-5

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

1 Pet. 2:24

“38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. 39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: 40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; 41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead. 42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. 43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.”
