a burden of prayer & song for
those who are overcoming

When there’s no wind in your willows,
And tears fall on your pillows,
Though long may be the night,
Do not give up your fight,
It’s time to walk by faith and not by sight.

For His joy is coming in the morning!

Even in the midst of life’s billows,
God is still faithful.
Don’t lose your song!
Don’t lose your music!
Don’t lose your victory and dance,
When there’s no wind in your willows.

For soon enough the wind will return,
Let God’s victory in your heart still burn,
Take the lessons of this valley that you learn,
And fly with on the wings of grace and grit
like the beautiful swallows.

Yes, friend, even in the midst of life’s billows,
God is still faithful.
Don’t lose your song!
Don’t lose your music!
Don’t lose your victory and dance,
When there’s no wind in your willows.

Ps 137:1-4
137:1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept,
when we remembered Zion.
2 We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.
3 For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they
that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.
4 How shall we sing the LORD’s song in a strange land?

Darkness! LIGHT!

Exodus 10:21
21 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.

Darkness!
I can feel it.

Darkness!
It’s upon me.

Darkness!
It surrounds me.

Darkness!
It controls me.

Darkness!
I can’t see where I’m going.

Darkness!
I’ve learned to live with it.

Darkness!
Everyone else lives here too.

Darkness,
This is my world.

Darkness!
Sometimes it’s eerily quiet.

Darkness!
Sometimes it’s horribly noisy.

Darkness!
I feel bound.

Darkness!
I feel wrestling.

Darkness!
I feel so unsettled inside.

Darkness!
I feel something can change.

Darkness!
Surely there’s got to be more to life than this!

Darkness!
It holds on to me.

Darkness!
It doesn’t want to let me go.

Darkness!
It grips me.

Darkness!
I’m so tired of it!

Darkness!
Will it ever be over?

Darkness!
Is there an end to it?

Darkness!
Help!

Darkness!
I’m lost!

Darkness!
It’s always night.

LIGHT!
I see it!

LIGHT!
I can feel it!

LIGHT!
A new day has dawned upon my life!

LIGHT!
Hope!

LIGHT!
Direction!

LIGHT!
I’ve been saved!

LIGHT!
Everything is different now!

LIGHT!
My world is changed!

LIGHT!
This is so wonderful!

LIGHT!
I’m finally free!

LIGHT!
Darkness has lost its hold on me!

LIGHT!
I now know where I’m going!

LIGHT!
I’m so thankful!

LIGHT!
I can feel it more everyday!

LIGHT!
I want to share it!

LIGHT!
Everything is gonna be alright now!

The only thing greater than darkness which may be felt is LIGHT which may be felt!

Churchless!

nov 9, 2011

No man is poor if he attends and faithfully walks through his local church door,
For in the local church is the hope of the world.
We are His hands and His feet,
the Body of Christ in our lost and hurting world.
We are His voice in this wilderness we live in.

Oh, let me be penniless, but not churchless!
Oh, let me be dreamless, but not churchless!
Oh, let me be helpless, but not churchless!
Oh, let me be hopeless, but not churchless!

Directionless, but not churchless!
Loveless, but not churchless!
Homeless, but not churchless!

Every soul needs a local truth preaching apostolic Pentecostal church in their life!
Jesus died and lives for His church that He bought and birthed.

If a man, a woman, a young person, a child or a family has a compelling local apostolic church in their lives there will be no shortage of…

blessings,

dreams,

help,

hope,

direction and God’s love.

There’s No Better Time!
l. chancy gore

8.15.10
sun | 6am

There is no better time to dream again than now!
There’s no better time to hope again than when all hope seems gone.
There’s no better time to rise up than after you’ve been knocked down or been knocked down.
There’s no better time to shine than when it is your darkest hour.
There’s no better time to be healed than when you are the sickest.

There’s no better time to believe again than when it seems unbelievable.
There’s no better time to forgive than when it hurts the most.
There’s no better time to love again than right now!

There’s no better time to smile and laugh again than after you’ve wept and cried.
There’s no better time to sing and dance than after you’ve sat down and hung your harp on the willows of silence.
There’s no better time to rejoice than after you’ve been seemed to lose your joy!

There’s no better time to be healed than after you’ve been broken.
There’s no better time for fall than after the long hot summer.
There’s no better time for the gentle warmth of spring than after the cold grip of winter.
There’s no better time to win than after you’ve lost!

There’s no better time to gain than after you have suffered loss.
There’s no better time to see a rainbow than after a storm.
There’s no better time to be a winner than after you’ve been a loser.

There’s no better time for victory than after you’ve been or felt defeated!
There’s no better time to see than after you’ve been blind.
There’s no better time to go forward than after you’ve gone backwards.
There is no better time to invent than in a time of need.

There’s no better time to produce than after you’ve been barren!
There’s no better time to get back up than after you’ve fallen.
There’s no better time to feel the rain than after a season of dryness.
There’s no better time to smell the rose than after you’ve felt the sting of the thorn.

There’s no better time to shout than after you’ve been quiet long enough!
There’s no better time to advance than after you’ve faced down adversity.
There’s no better time to have a resurrection than after you’ve been crucified!

Ps 137:1-4
137:1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.
2 We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.
3 For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.
4 How shall we sing the LORD’s song in a strange land?

Ps 126:1-3
When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.
3 The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

Radical Roots!

roots on a tree

pic: lcgore

Acts 2:42

42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Jude 3

3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

In this modern age it is important that we as modern Christians not get away from the simplicity of Christ. Let’s not entangle ourselves in the web of making Christianity, and simply living for God, so complicated. It’s time to get back to the basics. It’s time to get back to our apostolic foundation. It’s time to return to our roots.

The cry of early 20th century Apostolic Pentecostals’ was “Back to Pentecost!” and “Back to Acts!” So here we are today. The last one hundred years of Pentecostalism in the world has been explosive. It has not been ignored by the world at large.

However our roots do not begin at the Welsh revival, the Topeka Kansas revival, the Azusa Street revival, or the spreading of the Pentecost across Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and into Africa and other global fields. Our Apostolic Pentecostal roots find their way all the way back to Acts 2 in the Bible. Our roots are not simply defined by a denomination or a movement, but trace back to the Book of Acts in the Bible.

Roots are powerful things. They can produce positive and sometimes negative results such as roots of bitterness, cancer roots, and root canals. Painful things! Negative things!

One time I planted a little shrub in our yard. Later I decided to tear it out because it just didn’t seem to look the best. I thought I could easily just pull it out by the roots with my hands. Not so! It took me a few hours to chop that little bush’s roots. The roots had taken hold and didn’t want to let go!

Roots are powerful, positive things. Roots hold things together. Roots are important. They are the source of life and nourishment. They are the source of growth. Giant Sequoia trees are held together because of their interconnected roots. They are knit together in love.

Roots! Apostolic roots! Apostolic Pentecostal roots! Back to Pentecost! Back to Acts! Acts 2 is where we find our apostolic origins. Acts 2 is our apostolic birth certificate. The Book of Acts is our pattern. It is our root ball that we must protect.

The Latin word radix means “the root of things”. Radix is where we get the word radical. Radical takes us to the root of things.

Radical roots! Apostolic roots!

“The message of one God, the new birth (repentance, baptism in Jesus’ name for the remission of sins and the baptism of the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking in other tongues Acts 2:1-39), holiness and separation from the world, the fruit of the Spirit, the gifts of the Spirit, the return of Jesus Christ etc. are still at the root of the Bible’s teaching.”

As a fourth generation Apostolic Pentecostal I want to shout out, “Let’s get back to the roots of New Testament Christianity! Let’s settle for nothing less than continuing as a New Testament church!”

It’s not time for the routine but the radical! It’s not time for the mundane but the miraculous! The early church continued on purpose in their apostolic roots. They contended for it. They would never back off, back down or back away from it. 21st century apostolic Pentecostals should do no less!

Here are some of our radical roots!

• Jesus is God manifested in the flesh

• Jesus is the Head of the church

• Jesus taught us to love everyone

• Good works for God’s glory

• Radical doctrine

• Radical fellowship

• Radical prayers

• Radical fasting

• Radical giving

• Radical worship

• Radical missions

• Radical love for God

• Radical love for others

• Radical healings

• Radical signs and miracles

• Radical sharing

• Radical community

• Radical faith

• Radical soul winning

• Radical results

• Radical growth

“The early church continued on purpose in their apostolic roots. They contended for it. They would never back off, back down or back away from it. 21st century apostolic Pentecostals should do no less!”

Radical roots! The message of one God, the new birth (repentance, baptism in Jesus’ name for the remission of sins and the baptism of the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking in other tongues Acts 2:1-39), holiness and separation from the world, the fruit of the Spirit, the gifts of the Spirit, the return of Jesus Christ etc. are still at the root of the Bible’s teaching.

Radical roots. These apostolic roots run deep. Do not pull them up in your life! Stay rooted and grounded in these eroding last days. More people are repenting, being baptized in Jesus’ name and receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost than at any other point in the history of the New Testament church since Acts 2.

It’s revival time! While our current culture is eroding, let the end time apostolic Pentecostal church emerge in God’s power, hope, healing and holiness with Acts 2 salvation and revival to sweep our world.

Radical roots!

Between Sundays The Local Church Grows

between sundays leaf background

pic: landon gore

Thank God for “Sunday”! Yet, I’m convinced that what happens between Sundays is just as important, if not more important at times, than what happens in our church on a Sunday morning alone. If Sunday morning is the birthing, then between Sundays is the nurturing and raising of the revival baby.

Here are a few questions we are inviting the wonderful family of faith we lead, at The Refuge Church, to ask themselves regularly throughout this year.

Whose life am I touching this week?

Who is in the TRC family because of me?

Who is staying in the church because of me?

Who am I mentoring?

Who am I encouraging?

Who am I winning to God?

How can I help TRC grow between Sundays?

“If Sunday morning is the birthing, then between Sundays is the nurturing & raising of the revival baby.”
