One Day I Looked Up From My Phone

fullsizerenderpic by lcg

Recently the Lord dropped a little thought provoking poem into my spirit. I offer it to us all in the spirit of the continual need for balance and blessing. I thank God for the blessings of modern social media and our phones. As with anything, we are faced with the question of whether we will control it or will it control us? Let’s continue to make godly and righteous choices in our modern world of tech and connection.

Here’s a little godly pricking & provoking to just remind us to stay balanced in the midst of our ever increasing fast-paced lives. Let’s continue to use the internet, social media and suchlike for good and godly reasons. Yet, even godly peeps, tweeple, followers, likers and such need to keep things in check from time to time. I’m a fellow traveler.

Interestingly, I was recently with my family at a local home improvement store when I snapped the above picture. It appeared that possibly someone had enough and murdered their phone. Obviously, I stumbled upon a crime scene.

Kidding, of course.

One Day I Looked Up From My Phone

bishop lcgore | sept 2016

One day I looked up from my phone and my baby was born,

One day I looked up from my phone and my baby started walking,

One day I looked up from my phone and my baby was graduating from high school,

One day I looked up from my phone and my parents were getting older,

One day I looked up from my phone and my adult child was getting married,

One day I looked up and my grandchildren were born,

One day I looked up from my phone and talked with the funeral home director about my spouses arrangements,

One day I looked up from my phone and began to notice life and..

One day I looked up from my phone and there I suddenly stood before the face of God.

When Dreamers Die

bishop lcgore | september 1, 2016

When dreamers die,
dark seems the sky,

When dreamers die,
It’s easy to ask, “Why?”

When dreamers die some give up the fight,
When dreamers die, how dark is the night!

Even dreamers hurt and bleed,
Every dreamer has their own need,

Even shepherds can fall apart,
Even dreamers can be weary of heart,

Sometimes hope hurts,
Sometimes dreaming again hurts,

“Lord, when…?”
“Lord, I thought…”
“Lord, things were supposed to be…”
“Why?”
“When?”

Every crucifixion leads to resurrection when you refuse to stay down,
The spirit of faith says, “My God will turn this around!”

Every God called dreamer must come to a place of…

“I die daily”,
“He must increase, I must decrease”,
“Not my will, but thine be done Oh Lord”,

Doth the dreamer yet live?
Doth the dreamer yet hope?
Dare the dreamer to dream again?
A thousand thundering times, “YES!”

It’s time to dream again!
It’s time to get up again!
It’s time to try again!
It’s time to run again!
It’s time to believe again!

Rejoice!

The dreamer liveth!
The dreamer cometh!
The dreamer is back!

He’s carrying his book of visions and dreams,
Hope, healing and Holy Spirit,

I hear the dreamer coming,
Can you hear it?

Let us work while it is yet day,
Church, we must all work,

Dream it!
Dare it!
Share it!
Do it!

The dreamer liveth!
The dreamer is arising!
Behold, the dreamer is here!
Thou art the dreamer!

Hope is rising!

ENTANGLED!

l. chancy gore, bishop & senior pastor

Help!
I’m stuck.
I cannot get out.
I cannot go forward.
I cannot go backwards.
I’m caught.
I’m caught up.
I’m ensnared.
I’m scared.
I’m entangled!

Help me!
Someone, please come.
I need help.
I cannot get out alone.
It’s getting dark now.
I should have never started this.
I should have never come here.

Drifting.
Slowly.
Surely.
Farther.
Neglect.
Deeper.
Darker.
Destruction.

This is not what I thought it would be!
Entangled!

How did I get caught up with this?
Him?
Her?
It?
Why was I so foolish?
Why didn’t I listen?

I’m entangled.
I’m tied down.
I’m tied up.
I’m too tied up.
I’m bound.
I’m in bondage.
I’m stuck.
I’m losing my feeling.

Entangled!

What is that light?
Where went my night?
I’m too tired to fight.
I’m ready to make things right.
I see it!
Light!
Hope!
A voice!
A hand!
Help has come!

Unraveling.
Unthreading.
Untying.
Unyielding.
Love.
Mercy.
Forgiveness.
Hope.
Refuge.
Truth.
Freedom.

Detangled!

I’m set free!
No more entangled.
No more darkness.
I’m no longer hopeless.

I’ve been loosed.
I’ve been let go.
I’m flowing.
I’m going.
I’m growing.
I see differently now.
I know differently now.
I am different now.

No more entangled!

Because I’m Your Daughter

Because I’m Your Daughter!

a little church planting parable

chancy gore, senior pastor & suburban missionary
the refuge church of the lake cities

Mom, Dad, when I was born, you were so happy! You couldn’t quit smiling for days. A lot of planning, preparing and prayer were born long before I was even born.

“We’re gonna have a baby!” was my parents’ heart cry. All my brothers and sisters rejoiced over my birth. When I was first born, I received a lot of love and attention. All the family was excited about me. They even gave me a special name of my own!

It came to be understood real fast that it would take a lot of time, finances, sacrifices and of course, a great deal of love to birth and raise me. I guess you could say I’m a “big handful” of blessing and lots of hard work too.

“I guess you could say I’m a ‘big handful’ of blessing and lots of hard work too.”

I love being part of the family. One day I hope to grow up and have a family of my own. I’m thankful for all the love, attention and nurture that my Mom and Dad, brothers and sisters give to me. Without my family, I most likely wouldn’t survive or live very long.

Mom, Dad, I LOVE BEING YOUR BABY GIRL!

My family is so kind to me. They make me feel loved, included and just as special as the rest of the family. After all, we are all brothers and sisters in the same family. They think of me on special days, holidays and always seek to include me.

I’m just a little baby girl now, but I’m growing up! I will be a “big girl” one day!

Mom, Dad, family, thank you for loving me, caring for me, protecting me, providing for me and helping me to grow every day. You always smile and tell me you love me and kindly remind me, “That is what Moms and Dads do best!”

Mom, Dad, I LOVE BEING YOUR BABY GIRL!

Oh, I’ve made my share of messes, forgetting things and even falling down and skinning my knees. Whenever I’m hurt, Mom and Dad, you’ve been there. Whenever I cry, you hug me close and wipe away all my tears.

I feel pretty because you often tell me that you think I’m beautiful. Your love gives me confidence every day as I live, breathe and grow little by little.

It has been fun growing up while you’ve watched me. Your approving smiles cheer me on to do more and inspire me to keep going and growing forward. I love being your daughter. Thank you forever for taking care of me. I know you naturally would have done all of this and will continue to do so because I’m your daughter.

Mom, Dad, where have all the years gone? Today I’ve been enjoying the precious memories and joyful reflections of you and all my brothers and sisters. Today my hair is longer. Today my smile is brighter and bigger than before. I’m growing up too!

Mom, Dad, family, thank you for helping me all these years! I love you forever! Thanks for believing in me. I feel like a beautiful butterfly spreading her wings to fly high. I am still your baby girl in my heart of memories, though! I love being your daughter.

Mom, Dad, I’m grateful for you now, more than ever before in my life. It’s amazing how time brings more vision and perspective to us. As I move into this next phase of my life, I appreciate you all the more. In this new phase of my life I realize all of the sacrifice, love, care and time devoted to raising me. I know you did it all, as you often told me, “Because you’re our daughter”. Today, I shower you with blessings, prayers, support and much love! All of this too, is because I’m your daughter.

I’ve got some sweet news for you and all my brothers and sisters. Since I’ve had a family of my own, I wanted to surprise you with the news that our family is growing again! We’re going to have a baby! I’m expecting a baby girl. I want to give her all the love, nurture and support that you’ve given to me all these years. What a joy it is to grow together through this journey of life.

“What a joy it is to grow together through this journey of life.”

I send you all these words of thankfulness and love today because I’m your daughter. I rise up and call you all blessed today because I’m your daughter. I’m eternally grateful to you all because I’m your daughter.

Sincerely,

Your Daughter Work

5 Ships That Are Coming Into Your Life

Your ships are coming in! It has been said, “Some people are waiting for their ship to come in while they haven’t even sent out a canoe!” I also like the adage, “When your ship comes in make sure you’re at the right dock.”

I have found out that sometimes opportunity doesn’t knock, it just whispers. If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door!

Allow me to point out to you 5 ships that are on the horizon and headed into your life (or perhaps some of these are already in the port of your life).

FELLOWSHIP

We all need fellowship with God (prayer, fasting, Bible study, worship, and we all need fellowship with others. No man is an island to himself. Beware of isolation. The early church needed and practiced “fellowship” and so does the 21st century church.

Acts 2:42
42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Phil 1:3-7
3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,

5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;

6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.

Rom 1:12
12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

FOLLOWSHIP

We all need to be followers of Jesus. “Follow me” is still His invitation to us all.

We all need to follow our local pastor and shepherd. “Follow me as I follow Christ” (see 1 Cor 11:1; Heb 13:7, 17) was Paul’s advice. Beware of the man who has only a preacher or an advisor in his life, but no true biblical Holy Ghost filled apostolic pastor. God’s plan is for us to have a pastor in our lives who can speak into our lives without fear or favor. The greatest Bishop, Overseer, Superintendent, Presbyter or Elder in your lives is not an organization, not an elected organizational or denominational official, but your pastor!

Jer 3:15
15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

Eph 4:11-15
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

We must be good followers before we can be good leaders. If being a servant and a good follower is not learned first, one can easily become a tyrant.

LEADERSHIP

God wants us to be difference makers. We all have influence with others that should be used for good and for God, not for evil or merely ourselves. Leadership is a place of trust, influence & direction. You don’t have to have a title or position to have leadership and influence. You are trusted. You influence others. Lead with harmony & unity. Never lead mutiny. The man who leads mutiny needs never to feel his own neck is safe. Here be dragons and sharks!

Live to influence others for good and God. Live to invest in others. Live to help others be all God wants them to be. Live to help others see how great they are and not just how great you are. Live to help people find their place, not to just put people in their place. Jesus is the ultimate example of being a servant-leader.

MENTORSHIP

We all need to be pouring ourselves into someone else. If you die today, who will carry your legacy (your work, ministry, local church etc) on? Use your influence to raise up a Timothy, a Titus, a Paul, etc. MENtoring is a must! Notice with me that the word “mentoring” begins with men. Help raise up others (men, women, people to work for God).

The Book of Acts records how Barnabas mentored Saul. Barnabas and Saul one day turned into “Saul and Barnabas”. The time came where we read of Paul and no longer hear about Barnabas. Are you big enough to be a Barnabas? Are you willing for others to outshine and outdo you? Those you mentor should fly higher, reach further, and accomplish more because of your fingerprints on their heart and life coupled with their own gifts, callings and talents from God. They should have a double portion like Elisha!

Ephesians 4:11-16 teaches us, among other things, that the five-fold ministry is to equip the saints to do works of ministry and service. Mentoring is a must!

Every Elijah needs an Elisha. Moses needed Jethro. Moses mentored Joshua. Jesus mentored the original 12 apostles. Acts 6 gives us the pattern of releasing others into service within the church. Barnabas mentored and nurtured Saul (Paul), Paul in turn mentored Timothy & Titus, along with a host of others.

FRIENDSHIP

Choose your friends carefully! Don’t get so close to anybody that they know all your business. If they know all your business, you don’t have any business. Remember friendship with the world is still enmity with God according to the scriptures. This doesn’t mean don’t have any friends or to not be friendly with unsaved people. In short, we are to be the ones winning them to God and not them winning us back into a world or life of sin. Love people, but not the spirit of this world (see 1 John 2:15-17).

We need friends. We were made by God to walk with Him and with others. We need the benefit of friends in our lives. It is true that, “You cannot make an old friend.” The wise man said, “A friend loveth at all times.” That doesn’t mean that they have to always like what we do or agree with us one hundred percent of the time. When we are in trouble it is sure nice to have a brother who will help us through the tough times of life. Abraham was called the friend of God. Jesus called His disciples friends. Thank God for true friends! We need our friends. Our friends need us.

Prov 17:17
17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

John 15:12-15
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends…

Don’t let any of these ships sink in your life. At one time or another they will all come into port.

Personal Revival Prayers For Me

9.15.15pic: lcgore

PERSONAL REVIVAL PRAYERS FOR… ME!

Psalm 51 is a trip to the prayer room of personal repentance and personal revival. Hell’s “prayer room” is always full. Nobody has to beg people to fill hell’s prayer room. However, here is another prayer room I want to walk with you through. It is the prayer room of personal repentance and revival. The walls are decorated with sanctified “selfies”. Usually we intercede only for others, but in this prayer room, it is okay to intercede for yourself.

In this prayer room, we will find a deeper relationship with God. This prayer room is all about personal requests from God, personal prayers to God, a personal relationship with God and such like. In this prayer room, we find personal revival prayers. The old timers used to say that if you want revival, draw a circle around yourself (where you’re standing on the floor) and start there. In short, revival starts individually, with you and me.

Today I invite you to walk with me through revival’s private prayer room and pray some personal prayers of repentance and revival.

Here we are. Allow me to open the door slowly. Don’t worry about disturbing others; this prayer room is all about you. Look around. I’ll leave you and God alone to talk a while.

Ps 51:1-17
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shaltmake me to know wisdom.

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.

17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

God will neither overlook a broken spirit, nor a broken and contrite heart. When I first started to live for God almost 30 years ago, my sweet Apostolic, Pentecostal, Holy Ghost filled grandmother would tell me “Son, every now and then, we need to weep our way back to Calvary.” The good news is that Calvary says, “You’re worth it!”

I encourage you to visit revival’s prayer room again and often. Pray. Seek God. Repent. Arise afresh, new, clean, washed, delivered, restored and renewed. Revived!

What Time Is It In Your Life?

what time is it in your life

pic: lcgore

I frequent a local store in Murphy, Texas called Sprouts, and earlier this year I noticed the giant clock in the Murphy market place. Seeing the tall clock made me think again about the question, “What time is it in your life?”

At age 45 I have begun to pay more attention to the cycles and seasons  of life. It is amazing how the wheels of life continually go round. One of the most profound phrases in the Bible is simply states “in the process of time…”. As a pastor I’ve noticed many times when one is about to leave this world, another one is about to be born into this world. Likewise, I’ve seen the days when one is leaving the church, another one is being born into the kingdom of God. While someone else is giving up, another one is making up their mind to keep on keepin’ on.

Life brings its ups and downs. Life brings its ins and outs. Life is full of the good, the bad and the ugly. Yet I’ve never seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed seeking bread (corn bread, tortilla bread, French bread etc. I like it all!).

The preacher of old was and is still right.

Eccl 3:1-8
3 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Did you notice that the Old Testament printed pulpit never said there was “a time” to quit? Child of God, it is not time for you to quit! Whatever season or time it is in your life, it is not time to quit living for God.

It’s healing time. It’s hope time. It’s faith time. It’s praying again time. It’s is time to get up one more time. It’s victory time. It’s praise time. It’s time to get involved. It’s revival time.

Take comfort friend, God knows what time it is in your life.

Eccl 3:11
11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time:

What time is it in your life?

Hope Is Rising!

hope is risingpic: Elizabeth Gore

HOPE IS RISING!

My oldest daughter, Elizabeth, recently slipped up on a butterfly resting on a flower and snapped the above picture. When I see it, I think of hope. Child of God, it is time for you to hope again. It is time for your faith to fly again. It is time for you to rise again and continue to be all that God has designed you to be. Make your life count for Him.

Are you living up to your God potential? Why not? What is holding you back or down?

I believe God has a very specific plan for your life. You are not an accident. If you could only see yourself the way God sees you. It’s time to get up again. Hope is rising. Believe again. Love again. Run again. Try again. Forgive again. Pray again. Read your Bible again. Spread your wings and fly again. Dream again.

Hope is rising! You are rising!

So They Set Forward

crosspic: lcgore

Recently, at The Refuge Church, I preached a message entitled, “So They Set Forward!”

“…so they set forward” -Numbers 2:34

God wants His church to go forward. Are you determined to go forward in your walk with God? Is your mind made up to go forward in your ministry?

Let me encourage you to be “set forward” in your prayer, fasting, worship, love, soul winning, giving, victory, revival and etc!
I want to share with you a poem my daughter Elizabeth recently wrote about going forward. May it breathe fresh breath into your spirit today.

FORWARD

Elizabeth Gore
5-11-15

“No turning back” are the words that ring in my ears.

Forward oh God! In You I will trust despite my many fears.

Now is my time to choose, I know I’ve come too far to lose, so I’ve made up my mind.

Forward is my direction. I’m keeping my prize in view, on Heaven’s glorious reflection!

The world continues to distract, but I will keep my walk with You in tact.

Forward oh God! Forward despite the trials that come my way. I know they are not here to stay.

Yes storms will come, and I may not know what to do, but I know my anchor, my strong tower, and a very present help is in You.

Never turning back to the way things were. I am planted, rooted in your Word.

Forward is my direction! I’m keeping my prize in view! Oh Heaven’s glorious reflection!
